The Secrets of Marlinspike Hall

News ~ Wednesday 27th June 2001

Since june 27, Marlinspike Hall reveals its secrets in the Cheverny estate. In 1943, Marlinspike Hall became a home base for captain Haddock, Tintin, professor Calculus, Nestor, as well as for the many visitors, occasional or inopportune at times, who would frequent the magnificent mansion. For its architecture, Hergé was directly inspired by Cheverny, one of the most prestigious castles of the Loire Valley. He will remove its wings and give it the reversed name of a Walloon Brabant’s village, Sart-Moulin.

The exhibit will give the visitors the opportunity to revive the life-size events that took place in the mythical Marlinspike Hall: Tintin’s discovery of the place, the Captain’s misfortunes, Calculus’ experimentations, Abdullah’s intrusion, the confrontation with the Super-Calcacolor and a glimpse at Tintin’s bedroom. Marlinspike Hall has preserved its own archives. Visitors will discover 25 objects closely connected to the life of the castle and its occupants’.
