Tintin in the safe !
An article in the August 19th edition of The New York Times, reported that in 2007 the Brooklyn Public Library removed Tintin in the Congo from display in the public area to a back room where it is kept under lock and key. This followed a complaint from a patron who objected to the way Africans were depicted in the second Tintin adventure.
This book can be found in the safe alongside other " controversial " works such as Henry Miller's Tropic of Capricorn and Hitler's Mein Kampf , and other books deemed offensive for one reason or another.
There has been a sense of indignation and a fierce defense of Hergé's work in response to the news of this censorship.
