Russian is one of the languages which Tintin speaks.

In Russia, the Russian editions of The Adventures of Tintin were published by the Azbooka-Atticus Publishing Group.
Almost the entire collection of Tintin’s adventures were available.

Listen to some insults from Captain Haddock

On the basis of the information available to us, it would seem that this publisher no longer wishes to pursue the adventure. To date, the first book, Tintin in the Land of the Soviets still hasn’t been translated into Russian.
It is not in the tradition of Russian readers, young or old, to read comic strip cartoon books, as we know them, at home. The beautiful hardback comic strip book isn’t part of their culture.

Could digital broadcasting change the situation?

The digital and Russian release of the first adventure, Tintin in the Land of the Soviets, could serve as a launch pad....who knows?

We are very excited to announce the forthcoming release of Tintin in the Land of the Soviets in Russian, on October 25 (*) Only available as a digital edition. A world premiere!

This release was made possible thanks to the efforts of our translator Micha Mihail ,who we were delighted to welcome to Brussels to visit us and give his point of view on various questions about Tintin's adventures in Russian and the importance of Tintin in Russia.

(*) On October 25, 1917, Lenin and Trotsky led their supporters in an armed uprising in Petrograd against the provisional government led by Kerensky. The next day, Trotsky officially announced the dissolution of the provisional government at the opening of the All-Russian Congress of Workers and Peasants' Deputies Soviets (which had 649 delegates, including 390 Bolsheviks). Soviet representatives from all over the country approved of the insurgency. Congress adopted decrees transferring all powers to the Soviets and also adopted a decree on land, peace, nationalities and workers' control over production.
